Practitioners are familiar with treatments involving ice or liquid nitrogen cryotherapy, but such techniques are mainly used experimentally and remain impractical. Cryonic is taking cryotherapy forward through the design, manufacture and customisation of systems that are simple to use, whether on the sports field, in surgeries or hospitals.

Following several years of cryotherapy research, in 1993 Christian Cluzeau developed a new medical technique: Neurocryostimulation (NCS). With backing from OESO-ANVAR, he formed the company Cryonic Médical. This technique is based on the high pressure spraying of ultra-cooled gas (medical carbon dioxide in the form of microcrystals). This medical innovation by Cryonic Médical offers healthcare professionals a new therapeutic solution in the following areas: aches and pains, inflammation, vascular disorders and muscular contractures.

The systems were first patented in 1993 (n° 0633008) and further patents followed in 1998 and 2000. Since then the company has continuously broadened the scope of its activity through the introduction of new treatment protocols and products.
